Disappointments happen. Unforeseen circumstances get me discouraged and frustrated. Bad things may be inevitable, but all of these should not make me lose heart.
Do not lose heart.
Those words have been ringing in my mind these past few days, as if God is stitching it in my memory. It’s a very promising message that needs to be shared. That is why I’m writing this piece.
I read 2 Corinthians 4:1-18 today, which reminded me about one thing: The harsh realities of life serve as a means to glorify God:
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
I’m reminded of the song: “I’m trading my sorrows… I’m laying them down for the joy of the Lord.”
I will not let these troubles affect my passion to follow Jesus. These things happen in order to strengthen my faith and lift His name up.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)
Thank You, Father God, for this wonderful promise and assurance. I know now that these are just light and momentary troubles too small to be compared to the eternal glory that You have promised.
