And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25)
Prayer and forgiveness go together. That’s what the verse above has impressed upon me. It seems hypocritical to ask God for something but not hand out forgiveness to others.
I guess that’s one of the gifts that God has given me: to be forgiving and understanding of others. Pleasing others may sound like a bad thing, but when I decide to forgive a person and forget what he / she has done against me, I know that I have made his / her day a little lighter.
But more than merely gaining the acceptance of others, I should always remember that my action and decision to forgive is all because of God. He has forgiven me despite my darkness, and as a form of reverence and gratitude, I can’t help but forgive others as well.
