Today, God wanted me to remember June of last year, when I started joining the music team in Victory Davao to lead Worship Night. I can still remember jitters and fear to tread new waters, but God assured me that He is with me.
Now, He has led me to read the Scripture about Jesus walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33). More than the miracle unfolding in the eyes of His disciples, what struck me most was how He called Peter to step onto the water and approach Him.
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
It was natural for Peter to be afraid and doubtful, in as much as I was fearful that my skill in singing was not enough. And so, with an open heart and mindset to God’s leading, Peter asked Jesus to invite him. “Come,” Jesus said. It was at that moment of clarity and total surrender that Peter was able to walk on water.
Jesus told Peter:
“You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Indeed, why was I doubtful in the past, when I can definitely declare right now that I must never doubt the power of Jesus to transform me?
As I started joining the music team, I lifted my fears up to God and asked for His leading. That was a breakthrough for me. I’m not fearful anymore. Instead, I’m so eager to lead worship services out of the abundance of my heart to give thanks to God.
